Food Lion sells eggs from farms that use inhumane battery cages. Animals are confined inside these cages so tightly they have hardly any space to move around or even spread their limbs.
Living like this day after day is physical and mental torture. Write to Food Lion executives and ask them to end this animal cruelty once and for all.

Food Lion’s battery cage eggs raise quality and safety concerns
*Image representative of typical facilityThe majority of eggs sold at Food Lion come from hens kept in controversial battery cages. And yet, the company still claims to be a “passionate supporter of the well-being and welfare of farm animals.” Clearly, that’s a lie.
A 2023 study from the Prestage Department of Poultry Science at North Carolina State University found that eggs from caged systems are the “worst-quality eggs.”
The Center for Food Safety also says “confining animals indoor and packing them into dense living conditions creates a number of serious hazards.” Indeed, the Center opposes cages, reporting that cage-free eggs are “a better final product for consumers.” [1, 2]

Animals kept in cages in Food Lion’s supply chain endure this kind of treatment and worse. Animal welfare scientists and veterinarians around the world have condemned this practice and consider it extreme animal cruelty.
It’s time for Food Lion to ban cages for good.
